How to use

Preview the social card first, then ship the meta tags

The Open Graph Preview tool helps you check how a page may look when shared on Facebook or X. Platforms can still rewrite or cache cards, but the preview makes missing images, weak titles, and truncated descriptions easier to catch.

Step 1

Add the Open Graph title

Enter the headline people should see when the page is shared. Keep it clear and specific to the page topic.

Step 2

Write the description

Summarize the page benefit in one or two short sentences. Social cards usually truncate longer text.

Step 3

Set the page URL and image

Use the public HTTPS URL and an absolute image URL. Relative image paths often fail in crawlers and previews.

Step 4

Compare Facebook and X layouts

Switch platforms in the tool to confirm the title, description, and image still look usable after cropping.

Practical tips

  • Prefer a 1200 × 630 share image with important content centered.
  • Use absolute https:// URLs for og:url and og:image.
  • Keep titles readable under about 70 characters.
  • Write descriptions as useful summaries, not keyword lists.
  • After publishing, clear platform caches if an old preview still appears.
